Be You Without Limits

tips for building your successful self, finding your tribe, and not caring what others think

Episode Takeaways:

Strategy for Overcoming Opinions, 5-Minute Break Technique:

  • Give yourself a 5-minute break. For five minutes, we're not going to care about what other people think, say or do. But instead, for five minutes, we're going to do something that is just for us.

Something that will make us happy,

Something that does not consider or hold the opinions of thoughts of others.

  • Then give yourself another 5 minutes. What if we took five minutes to just be proud that we did something that we were once scared to do? Proud of ourselves that we still chose to do it anyway.

    We did it scared.

    We did it nervous.

    We did it afraid.

    We did it worried.

    We still did it.

  • Remember that you can do anything for 5 minutes. Take five minutes to just not care what anybody has to say.

Five whole minutes. You deserve five minutes of relief.

Five minutes to put the opinions of other people down.

Put it down. You do not have to carry it.

And it doesn't have to be just five minutes in this moment; it could be five minutes throughout the day. Five minutes now, five minutes midday, five minutes this evening, but five minutes.

And if you can extend it, that's even better.

Finding Your People, Embracing New Connections:

  • Yes, new friends. Yes, new people. Yes to new experiences. Yes to a new life. Yes to new interests. And a yes to a new me.

  • It takes some time to find your people. It may take some time to find your audience, but it's worth it in the end. You are worth being accepted. You are worth being in spaces where people support you, where people allow you to be heard because they want to hear you. Where people allow you to be seen because they want to see you. Where people embrace you because they want to love on you.

Where people just big you up because they want to support you.

These are your people. And if it's two people, that's your two people.

If it's 20 people, they are your 20 people.

Encouragement:

  • Give yourself five minutes today, tomorrow, and every day after to put down the thoughts, opinions, and expectations of others and to pick up something that brings you joy, something that honors the person you are, something that honors the space you're in, and something that helps you feel more like you.
